Explore the concepts and techniques underlying the construction and decoration of Nigerian pottery, while experiencing the actual forming of pots and drums by traditional hand building methods. African tribal design motifs and symbolism are discussed and utilized as surface decoration. Each participant completes several pots or UDU drums during this trans-cultural experience. The final day culminates in an outdoor primitive type firing, pot-luck meal, and musical drum jam session around an open fire in the evening.
